The relation between momentum conservation and the Newton’s third law revisited
نویسندگان
چکیده
Under certain conditions usually fulfilled in classical mechanics, the principle of conservation of linear momentum and the Newton’s third law are equivalent. However, the demonstration of such fact is usually incomplete in textbooks. We shall show here that to demonstrate the equivalence, we require the explicit use of the principle of superposition contained in the Newton’s second law. On the other hand, under some additional conditions the combined laws of linear and angular momentum conservation, are equivalent to the Newton’s third law with central forces. The conditions for such equivalence apply in many scenarios of classical mechanics, once again the principle of superposition of the Newton’s second law is the clue. متن کاملA physical axiom system based on the spirit
This paper established a physical axiom system. By the axiom system we can derive important physical laws such as momentum conservation law, Newton’s second law, Newton’s law of gravity, Schrödinger equation and Maxwell’s equations, simplified existing physical theories and explain some physical phenomenons those unresolved by traditional physical theories. We can also derive Schwarzschild solu...

متن کاملGravitational Scattering in the ADD-model Revisited
The effects of the condition that the standard model particles live on a thin brane in the ADD-model is investigated. This is shown to result in a cut-off independent Kaluza–Klein propagator for large distance scattering and an odd number of extra dimensions. The matrix element corresponding to this propagator can also be Fourier transformed to position space, giving back the extra-dimensional ...

Analysis of mechanical systems is based on Newton’s laws of motion. Usually, ideal (or point) masses are considered in the analysis, as shown in the Figure 1. Motion is considered with respect to a non-accelerating reference frame, usually a fixed point on earth or another non-accelerating object. The equation of motion for a mass m(t) is based on Newton’s second law which expresses the conserv...
